Software Team Manager Training in Intrepid MOOC
For this project I was an ID working on a number of lessons at a time. I would receive PowerPoints of older trainings from the client, and then work with SMEs to ensure everything was updated. I would storyboard in a new PowerPoint and hand that off to a graphic designer. While the graphic designer was working on graphics, I would build out the lesson content in Intrepid’s MOOC tool.
This was my first time working with a MOOC, and it was great because it forced me to think differently about designing a lesson. In the MOOC, content is laid out in clear chunks called tiles, and they appear to the user as tiles that they select and open. I would still manage content using instructional design principles as far as organization or flow, but I would have to chunk it as a context tile, note, video, mission, external link, or learning path per the MOOC structure. It was really a great exercise. Unfortunately I would not get to use Intrepid’s MOOC tool again until 2020!
As I built out content in the MOOC, when the graphic artist was ready they’d come back through and upload the graphics in the appropriate content per the rough storyboards I’d provided earlier. On this project I also cut, edited, and uploaded my own audio tracks for any applicable content. These were matched up with short PowerPoint chunks loaded into the MOOC, and for animations.
